happy year of the dog

Wishing you all a very happy Chinese New Year - Year of the Dog! 新年快樂 萬世如意 心想事成 祝大家有個旺年. My family had our New Year dinner on New Year's Eve - a ten-course meal with lots of seafood, topped off with the distribution of laisee (red packets)! Mom decided to get into the festive spirit by decorating our house with lanterns and words of blessings, and also bought lots of little snacks to go into our New Year serving platters... oh the traditions! Anyway my voice is still recovering from last week's Youth Camp... a four-day, three-night event at Serpentine Baptist Camp. It was awesome to be a part of the team. I got to learn a lot of new names and faces, got messy with eggs, ham, chickens, water, etc. The highlights (well just to name a couple) for me were the live painting and the spectacular Serpentine skyshow. In brief I had a great time getting to know new people and also got to spend more time with God. Looking forward to see the potential that Youth is able to unfurl this year.

a belated new post for the new year

Just realised that it has been a while since I last posted. I'm not sure how to articulate what I've experienced in the past two months... summing up the happenings randomly: lots and lots of family/ cousin hang outs, a three-day trip to Margaret River with my cousins, some beach time, a farewell party, and a couple of birthday parties. Murdoch Uni sent me an official letter a few days ago to confirm that I had graduated from the course I did last year, and now I will need to actively look for a potential finance-providing job! Originally I was going to be in Malaysia for Chinese New Year because I was supposed to get a new passport processed there, but I discovered that I can get my new passport in Perth (just a much slower waiting period) so I have decided (sadly) not to go to Malaysia during the festival this year... I'll be able to celebrate Chinese New Year with my family this year in Perth! (yet another first! yay!) Riverview is having it's annual Youth camp on Tuesday to Friday, and I'll be helping out with a group (I only found out today!). I'm really looking forward to it (it's my first Riverview Youth Camp), I've heard lots of great things about it from people that have been in the previous years.

Currently adoring:
- Vasse Felix' lunch menu
- Moon Haven's yummy soaps
